• Heat Capacity

  The increased gear transmission capacity for higher gear loads has resulted in smaller gear units and smaller bearings, which is possible due to improved material quality and increased manufacturing precision, and as a result, can now be transmitted by smaller units. However, in order to control the heat, the gearbox must keep the oil below 900°C. Without integrated heat control, this can be a limiting factor when selecting equipment, especially in high environments. David Brown Santasalos CX Series offers the perfect solution. • Product Design is Reversible

  In a modern production environment, the need to avoid downtime is an important factor. The time required to replace equipment in an emergency is very important to your business, so reliability is key. Imagine a parallel drive using two drive pulleys. • Extended Life

  The drives are the weakest part of any gearbox. They are more susceptible to damage from dust, water, misalignment, vibration and operating loads. In conveyor applications, the basic life of the L10 is over 60,000 hours or 150,000 hours for 10a, that is over six years and 15 years of service life! • Optimizing CFDs

  Computerized Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a computer model of the Cx gearbox that allows us to simulate airflow through the outer surface of the case. This is beneficial because it shows that if we can design the heat sink to control the airflow over the case and balance the fan to provide air velocity, we can rate the heat as the device cools more efficiently.

  
  

• FEA Virtual Lubrication System

  To optimize the power-to-weight ratio, we use Finite Element Analysis (FEA). A computer model of the case is created and its groups are divided into a small mesh of small elements. From here, we apply loads to the model and the computer then calculates the deflection of each element and the stress level at each corner. From this data, we are able to determine that thinner wall thicknesses can be applied, which means less weight and heat transfer.

  
  

• Simple Lubrication System

  Our CX Series is a self-contained system that allows the gearbox to run at multiple speeds without the need for additional lubrication. To ensure it can withstand a wide range of temperatures, we put the CX Series through rigorous testing, including a simulated cold shoe. With a completely self-contained splash lubrication system inside the machine, the CX Series gearboxes stay cool in demanding conditions.
